On the van since 2009
That line was painted on the side of an Artesian van in 2009. Here is what it looks like on a water heater, in photos from their own jobs.

Most of the water heaters we see live where this one does: a tight closet, a relief line, a drain pan, no room to work sloppy.
Old tank out, closet clear. This is where a rushed job cuts corners: the pan, the supply lines and the shutoff valve all get a look before anything new goes in.
New heater set, connections made, the tank filled and flushed through the drain hose before it is switched on.
Then the controls. On a gas unit the last look is the gas valve, the status light and the venting.
